Privacy Policy

Short version: Exigu does not collect, transmit, or store any of your exams, questions, examinees, or results on Exigu servers. Everything stays on your device. There is no account system.

1. Who We Are

Exigu is a mobile OMR (optical-mark-recognition) application for Android and iOS, designed for teachers and instructors to build multiple-choice exams, download print-ready answer sheets, scan completed sheets with the camera, and auto-score them. The database lives entirely on your device.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Exigu does not:

  • Require you to create an account or sign in.
  • Transmit your exams, questions, examinee records, or results to Exigu servers.
  • Sync your exam data to any cloud (backups are user-initiated and saved to where you choose).
  • Track your in-app behavior, usage patterns, or grading history.
  • Sell or share your data with third parties for advertising, analytics, or any other purpose.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Exigu stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Exams — title, subject, status, passing score, choice count, randomization settings, and instructions.
  • Questions — stems, choices, the correct answer, and point values.
  • Examinees — ID, name, group/section, and an optional email address you enter (individually or via CSV import).
  • Scans & results — detected answers, per-item confidence, computed scores, and pass/fail status for each scanned sheet. Captured scan images may be kept or auto-deleted, per your Settings → Scanner configuration.
  • App settings — exam defaults, scanner confidence threshold, appearance, and purchase/entitlement state.

This data never leaves your device unless you initiate a Backup Export, in which case you choose where the backup file goes. You can clear all app data at any time through your device's app settings or by uninstalling.

4. Network Use

Exigu works fully offline once you've removed the ad. The times the app touches the network are:

  • Remove Ads purchase & restore — handled by Google Play (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS). We never see or store your payment information.
  • App Open ad (before you remove it) — Google AdMob serves an anonymous full-screen ad on launch, which requires an internet connection; without a connection the app shows a "no internet" screen until the ad is removed. Removing the ad disables it permanently and lifts this requirement, so the app runs fully offline from then on.

5. Third-Party Services

Exigu integrates with the following third-party services, each operating under their own privacy policies:

Google Play Billing / Apple StoreKit (in-app purchases)

The Remove Ads one-time purchase is processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Exigu does not process, store, or have access to your payment details.

Google AdMob (advertising · until you remove ads)

Until you purchase Remove Ads, the app displays an App Open ad served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised ads under Google's Privacy Policy. Purchasing Remove Ads removes the ad permanently.

6. Permissions

Exigu requests the following device permissions:

  • Camera — to scan completed answer sheets. Used only from the Scan tab.
  • Storage / Files — to save downloaded answer-sheet, key, and report PDFs, and to save/restore backup files.
  • Internet — to validate the Remove Ads purchase and to serve the App Open ad until removed.

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's system settings. The core grading flow (build exams, scan, review, report) works without internet once you've removed the ad.

7. Children's Privacy

Exigu is a tool for teachers and instructors, not directed at children under the age of 13. Examinee records are entered by the teacher or instructor using the app, not by students directly, and are stored only on the device — Exigu does not knowingly collect personal information from children. 8. Data Retention

All exam data is stored only on your device. Exigu has no ability to delete it on your behalf as we do not have access to it. To delete your data, clear the app's storage in your device settings or uninstall the app. Backup files you create are stored wherever you saved them and are your responsibility to delete. Scan images follow the retention setting you choose under Settings → Scanner.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Where required by law, we will notify you within the app. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.
